Don`t throw any thing away

I`m showing you yet another card made for the latest edition of Crafters Inspiration and I had a light bulb moment with this design as I was sitting looking at the stencil after I made the box featured yesterday and thought it was too pretty to throw away. I was watching Hochanda yesterday and Fiona Clayton was talking about this card, she called it frugal crafting and as all crafters know you should never throw any thing away.

what was used:
Crafters Inspiration 15 heart die
Sheena stamping card
15cm x 15cm white base card
Coredinations brights teal linen card
38mm (1 1/2") wide teal organza ribbon
5mm teal satin ribbon
sentiment made using Serif Craft Artist graphics program

It really is as simple as it looks just use the leftover stencil from yesterdays box project to make the topper for this card.

Summer finally returned yesterday and I had to sit out in the garden and enjoy it for a while but it was so hot I could feel it burning my face so I had to get my sun hat.
Today looks like being equally glorious and Stu and I are going to Scarborough but not for a paddle in the sea, no we are going to pick up a heater that I bought a few days ago when the weather had turned cold. I finished off my blanket box up cycling project yesterday and will show a picture of it in my next post although I realise that I haven't taken a picture of it before I started (silly me).

A box of hearts

Here is another of the samples which I made for the CI 15 magazine. I just made a random size box but you could make a box to fit a present, say some tea lights. If you do have a go at making this project don`t throw away the template as I will show  you a card that you can make with that tomorrow.

what was used:
Crafters Inspiration 15 heart die
12" x 12" Coredinations pastels linen card
Crafters Companion Big Score
Sheena stamping card
Tim Holtz distress inks - various colours
organza ribbon

Work out the size of the box lid and cut a piece of card roughly to size but larger.
Cut another piece of card roughly to the same size and randomly cut the heart shapes into the card.
Place the heart card template over the card to be used for the box lid and sponge colour the hearts with Tim Holtz distress inks.
Remove the template (do not throw the template away) and make the box lid using your Big Score.

Make the box bottom using the peach card from your Coredinations and tie the organza ribbon around the finished box.

This is a really pretty gift box which looks more complicated than it is and when teamed with the card made from the template which I will be showing you tomorrow it gives a very coordinated look. I never used to like constructing boxes but now that I have the Crafters Companion Big Score it is so easy to make fabulous gift boxes and bags.

Barely friends

I just received my Crafters Inspiration magazine yesterday and as I was busy doing secret stuff for Little Claire I didn't get to look at it till I was tucked up in bed at 11.30. I had been asked to make 10 samples using the heart die which came with the magazine and this is one of the samples I made. I did a version of this card for a very dear friend who has a bit of a teddy bear obsession and she loved it.

It is a straight forward card although I never did get the easel bit right and ended up with the top of the card not sitting directly over the bottom. This was my first ever attempt at an easel card and I think I could have made life easier if I had chosen a square shaped card.

Its a really simple card to make but looks much more complicated than it is.

what was used:
Crafters Inspiration 15 CD - Autumn Charm toppers & papers
Crafters Inspiration 15 heart die
Crafters Companion, Shabby Chic, Heartfelt Thanks stamp
Tattered Lace essentials circles die
15cm scallop die (I used my Scan n Cut)
yellow embroidery thread
small hole punch
good quality 210gsm mat print paper
white card
Coredinations Brights linen card (burnt orange)
greeting made on computer

I have just finished my secret samples for Little Claire and I should be able to share them with you at the end of the month. I have to say the new stamps which I have been working with are lovely and I have enjoyed using them all.

I have been trying to upcycle a blanket box which Stu made for me years and years ago to put all of my sewing stuff in. Well my sewing stuff has outgrew the blanket box ages ago and it was looking a bit tired and tatty so I thought I would paint it and do a bit of stencilling on it. I am just waiting for Stu to fix a wooden plinth around the bottom of it and then I can seal the paint and its good to go. I will take a photo of the box when its finished but I`m rather pleased with it so far.
