Its been a while

Hello crafty friends. Its been an awfully long time since I last blogged and I thought I had better put a blog together today before I forgot how to do it. Here is a card that I made for a lady that I work with and as you can see it was a special birthday for her.

What you will need:
Lavinia, Mooch stamp
Artylicious, scroll script stamp
various random small foliage stamps
Woodware sentiment stamps
Crafters Companion, Birthday Party numbers dies
Distress inks - picked Raspberry, vintage photo, Hickory smoke, antique linen
black VersaFine ink pad
Spectrum Noir, crystal clear sparkle pen
Sheena stamping card
white 8" x 8" base card
black card
pink card
brayer
small Butterfly punches
ribbon & gems

Glues used:
double sided tape, Collall tacky glue, hot glue gun

How to make:

Cut the Sheena stamping card slightly larger than you need and using a brayer and antique linen ink shade the card (I load my brayer and then roll it once onto copy paper before applying it to the Stamping card).

Using the script stamp and the vintage photo ink ghost stamp the image over the entire card to make a background.

Stamp the scruffy cat stamp onto Sheena stamping card (I use a stamping platform to stamp silhouette stamps as they often stamp patchy and require a second stamp).

Cut the card to the required size. Tear some scrap paper to form a torn edge and used this as a mask to mask out the cat and above. Using the picked Raspberry distress ink shade below the cat, remove the mask.

Stamp and ghost stamp the various foliage stamps around the edge of the card and using the other half of the torn paper mask over the pink shaded area of the card stamp more foliage around the cat.

Shade the edges of the card using the vintage photo ink, trace along the foliage with the sparkle pen (I spray over the topper with hair lacquer to set the sparkle pen and stop it rubbing off).

Die cut the required numbers from the pink card and stick into place.

Using the black VersaFine ink pad stamp the sentiment onto the card (again I used my stamp platform to stamp the sentiment).

Mat and layer the card topper onto black card and then onto the base card (I use an 8" x 8" base card, mat the topper along the fold of the card and then cut along the remaining three sides to make the perfect base card).

Punch out the butterflies and stick onto the card, stick small gems onto the butterflies.

Make a bow from the ribbon and stick it onto the card.

...........................................................................

I was shocked to see that my last blog was in October and I am truly sorry  for my absence but I have had so much work on and the time has just slipped by.
I have recently heard that Crafters Companion will be returning to Ceate & Craft where they started and this will mean plenty of work for me as part of the CC DT because they will be having lots of new products to celebrate and launch the move. I'm not sure exactly when the move will take place but it will be very exciting. Of course there is ying and yang and for every piece of good news there is bad and it was with great sadness that I read about Little Claire closing down. Little Claire and Lilly of the Valley are where I began my cardmaking journey many years ago and I will miss the Little Claire character stamps.
So as a crafty time traveller I can tell you that I have been working on some fabulous new dies for Crafters Companion which will allow us craters to truly personalise any card with our own words, I have to say that the way they have been designed will make them ultra useful and I will be sharing them with you as soon as I am allowed. I have also been working on the next edition of the Crafters Inspiration magazine and Die Cutting Essentials magazine so again I will let you know when the magazines go on sale.
I hope my card today and my little blog in general inspire you and I would love to see any pictures of your cards if you could post them in the comments. Also if you have a blog I would love to follow you so please send me your blog address or name.
